Veneers are very thin ceramic “shells” that are attached to your existing tooth permanently. Unlike dentures, veneers use your existing tooth structure and are placed with a permanent adhesive. The enamel of the tooth is removed by a miniscule amount and then the veneers are placed. Veneers are great for a tooth that is cracked or one that has become discolored or even chipped. When placed correctly, veneers can even cover up large gaps or other imperfections in your teeth that leave you feeling self-conscious about your smile.
One of the best parts about dental veneers is that they are able to be cared for and maintained just like your natural teeth. They aren’t porous like your natural tooth, so you don’t need to worry about them getting a cavity and they are better at stain resistance. While you will still need to brush and care for the remainder of your natural tooth, veneers are very easy to brush, floss, eat with and showcase with a lovely smile.
